Ms. Farmer is a native of South Florida who found her passion for teaching during the last 10 of the 20 years she served on active duty in the US Air Force. Before joining Sunfire High School, I spent 25 years at American Express in the Retention Department, where I also had the opportunity to train members of the bilingual team. Prior to American Express, I worked for 17 years as the Office Manager at Miramar Motors.

Outside of work, My  joy is my kids. I am the proud mother of three children and grandmother of two. I  also adore my two beautiful fur babies, Tallulah and Frida who bring plenty of love and personality into  my home.

She holds a Bachelor of Science from Florida Atlantic University and earned her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Barry University. After practicing for many years in the medical field, Dr. Sanders chose to follow her true passion for education. Her transition to teaching allows her to combine her extensive scientific background with a deep interest in the social sciences, creating an engaging and multidisciplinary learning environment for her students.

Ms. Peggy is Sunfire High School’s certified social worker. She spent the majority of her career with the Broward County Public Schools as a teacher and a social worker, where she dedicated herself to supporting students and families. Originally from New Jersey, Ms. Peggy is of Italian
descent. She is the proud mother of two adult daughters and the grandmother of four wonderful grandchildren. She also has a beloved cat named Carmy that she adores and that has become her travel companion. During school breaks, she enjoys traveling to visit her family, with one daughter living in New Jersey and the other in California.

Melani Timmis-Nordyke

Ms. Timmis has been an educator for 17 years and has served as an ESE Specialist at Sunfire High School since the school first opened its doors. She has a true passion for teaching high school students and considers each of them one of her “babies.” Building meaningful relationships with her students and helping them succeed is the most rewarding part of her
career. Although Ms. Timmis is of Hawaiian heritage, she was raised in South Florida. She is also a proud dog mom to two beloved puppies—a Boxer Pit Bull mix and a Havanese. Despite weighing over 100 pounds, her Boxer Pit Bull mix is afraid of his own shadow and loves nothing more than cuddling with his mommies and his aunty. Ms. Timmis’s favorite animal is the sloth, and her favorite meal is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich—especially when it’s made by her
best friend.
